For over 40 years Rolf Schubert has been heading his Germany based Concert Buero, an artist’s agency that specializes in authentic American jazz and blues.
For over 20 years Rolf Schubert has been organizing package tours to New Orleans and Chicago for music lovers. These are tours off the beaten track unlike any other regular package tour.
A few years ago Rolf Schubert made Andalucia his second home and has been organizing tours here in a style similar to the USA trips.
This is not your usual package tour. There may be changes in the programme and individual wishes of the participants may hopefully be fulfilled. At times things will be arranged spontaneously. At times things might also not go as smooth as planned. You must have a strong sense of adventure, humour and must be willing to fit in with a group of individuals of all nationalities, age groups and social backgrounds.
(Beware! Travel agencies put this sentence in when they talk about crossing the Mongolian Gobi desert).
You will be hiking, not to show off what a great sportsman you are, but to discover some beautiful landscapes.
You will need some good hiking boots, but even an inexperienced person in reasonably good condition can manage these hikes.
You will be experiencing the great Andalucian-Moorish-Arab culture, but again, you will not be rushed from one site to the other with over-bearing, boring explanations by some tour guide.
You will eat in the simple village bars. Great food, that you will never find in the tourist places of the Costa del Sol. However, if you hate garlic and olive oil, you are on the wrong trip.
You will listen to Flamenco, not the tourist version, but to the real stuff, the true "Cante Jondo".
You will have time to relax.
Normally we start and finish our tour at Salobreña, a pleasant little town. It is mainly Spanish families who spend their vacation here.
You still have the simple bars, where the peasants gather for a glass of wine after a hard days work in the fields. There are the typical Spanish restaurants, where the Spanish families gather for their long lunches and dinners. (Lunch not served before 2 pm and dinner not before 10 pm).
At Salobreña we cooperate with the Hostal San Juan, a simple, but very good and friendly two star Hostal. Two years ago, the Hostal was completey renovated and redone in true Andalucian style. All rooms come with heating/air condition, TV and private bathroom. The hotel is situated in a quiet side street in the centre of Salobreña. The Old Town is situated on a hill, a few minutes away. To the beach it is a 10 - 15 minute walk.
