Saturday
We will walk through the Old Town of Salobreña and visit the Moorish castle. We will walk through the sugar cane fields (the only ones in Europe) to the fishing village of La Guardia, where we will have lunch in a typical fisherman’s bar. After lunch we continue our walk along the coast with wonderful views of the Mediterranian Sea (about 2 hours).
At the end of our walk our bus will be waiting for us to bring us back to our hotel.
In the evening flamenco or jazz show in either Salobreña or in Motril or Almuñecar (cities close by).
Charge per person around 10 €.

Sunday
Our bus will bring us into the coastal mountains to the village of Guajar-Alto (about 45 minutes).
From Guajar-Alto we take a wonderful mountain hike down to the village of Faragüit (about 4 hours).
This is one of the most beautiful countrysides in the whole of Andalucia.
Lunch in the village bar with local specialities like goat, rabbit, garlic chicken, chick pea stew etc.
Return to Salobreña. Evening to your free disposal.

Monday
Whole day excursion to the Alpujarras mountains, situated below the Sierra Nevada. This was the last refuge for the
Moors, before they were finally kicked out of Spain in 1612. The Alpujarras villages resemble the Berber villages in the Rif mountains in Marocco. We go to Capileira, one of the highest villages in Spain (about 1.500 metres altitude).
We will visit the village and weather permitting, we will walk from Capileira to Pampaneira (2 hours).
During the walk we will see wonderful views of the snow covered Sierra Nevada peaks. Late lunch will be in a typical village bar.
Return to Salobreña. After a short stop at the hotel our bus will take us to Motril fishing harbour (15 minutes), where we watch the fishing boats come in, unload their catch, and we will see the fish auction.

Tuesday
Relax. At your own disposal. A restaurant visit or some other activity can be arranged for the evening.

Wednesday
We will spend the whole day at Granada. Our bus will take us to Granada in the early morning (60 minutes).
We explore Granada on foot and will see amongst other sites: the cathedral, the Corral de Carbon - an old Moorish inn from the 14th century and the Moorish silk market.
Highpoint will be the visit to the Albaicin, Granada’s old Muslim quarter, which was declared a Heritage site of Mankind by Unesco a few years ago.
Lunch in a restaurant in the Albaicin.
After lunch we walk to the Alhambra - the palace of the last Moorish kings in Spain - one of the most beautiful buildings in the world, comparable only to the Taj Mahal in India. We will have the whole afternoon and early evening for the visit of the Alhambra palace and its wonderful gardens.
Return to Salobreña around 8 pm.

Thursday
Hiking again. The bus will bring us to the Faragüit village (30 minutes). We explore the "white village", and walk up to
the Castillejo, a ruined Moorish castle on top of a hill. Short (45 minutes), but steep ascent. On top of the hill we will have a picnic. We return to Faragüit by another route (total walking time around 3 hours). Lunch in the village bar.
Return to Salobreña. In the evening there will be a farewell party at the hotel with wine tasting and tapas.

Friday
End of journey. Transfer to airports can be arranged (see arrival day).
